Mobile Operated Vending Machine

In most of the 3rd world countries currency notes are soiled or damaged and cannot be utilized in a vending machine. The project basically introduces a concept of integration of telecommunications provider to consumer product industry. Here the user sends an SMS to the vending machine with the number of drinks required. The machine communicates with the mobile service center and after deducts money from the users mobile credit, and the drinks are dispensed out.

Continuous Speed Recording & Analysis System

“CSRAS” is a concept design for recording the speed of vehicles traveling on highways. The CSRAS Device inside the car records vehicle speed at each passing kilometer, and on the exit plaza of the highway, it uploads the speed recording to the wireless terminal. The computer on the terminal looks for any speed violations and takes the necessary action is needed. Else if no speed violation is detected, the electronic barrier automatically lifts up, and the vehicle can pass.

Tube-Well Management System

In rural areas of Pakistan, tube well management is a hectic job. The tube well owner needs to employ workers round the clock who would start and stop the tube well and maintain the accounts of farmers to whom water is provided. This problem is solved by an automated system where each farmer is given a user ID and password. The farmer simply enters in his user/pass and the tube well starts. Similarly he can stop it with a simple button, or even enter the time duration after which the tube well should stop automatically. All activity on tube well site is transmitted to a remote monitoring center through GSM. Complete billing information for each farmer is available at anytime of month on the server. Faults like blown fuse or overheat warning are messaged to the owners.

TVA

Taufeeq's Voltage Analyzer ( TVA ) is a voltage measuring mechanism by which you can acquire periodic readings on your PC. The system provides excellent observational opportunity for transformer voltage changes, battery charging and discarding rates etc. This system supports 4 channels, means one can hook its 4 inputs to 4 different points where voltage monitoring is required with respect to time. The hardware uses versions of software called TVA also coded by me, supported on windows platform 98-XP. The hardware and software communicate through standard serial port.

D-Cafe

A recent prototype includes a system consists of a console having two monochrome LCDs, soft keys and keypads placed on each table in a café. The menu is displayed on the first LCD, and the customer can select the items and their quantities though soft keys/keypad. Selected items and their quantities are displayed on the second LCD, where items can also be deleted as per customer’s choice. In the café kitchen, a server runs an Access database that has username/password/credit information for all customers. The customer confirms the order, and selects either of the two payment modes: Prepaid or Cash. Incase of prepaid, the user gives his username and password. The order is placed digitally to the kitchen and displayed on a large LCD screen, and remaining balance is reported to the customer along with estimated time of serving. Warnings are sent to the users console incase of wrong username or other errors like insufficient balance in account.

Automated Fruit Sorter

Another prototype device for the fruit industry includes an intelligent fruit sorter which is a system for sorting fruit with respect to its diameter. Primarily used for apple, the sorting system consists of a conveyer belt and an electronic distributor. The system is able to sort fruit into four different categories. The fruit is dropped on the conveyer belt by a feeder, the conveyer automatically starts to move and when the fruit reaches the mid of the belt it is scanned for its diameter. The results are sent by the controller to the workstation running high-end software that monitors different parameters of the sorting process and issues a command to the servomechanism operating the distributor for placing the fruit in its target bucket. The software is flexible and presents run time charts and analysis of the whole process.

GEMMS

A prototype was designed for the power distribution company that used GSM band for sending bill information to the consumer. 'GEMMS' is a system that can be attached to conventional rotating disc meters as well as electronic solid-state meters. The system sends power bill (in rupees) as SMS to the user’s mobile number once in 24 hours. The destination mobile number, time of sending the message and current time can be adjusted through 12 button keypad and 3 soft keys attached with the LCD. A slab-wise tariff plan is followed by the system and calculates the bill accordingly. First 100 units are charged at Rs.3/unit. Next 200 units are charged at Rs.4/unit. Next 300 units are charged at Rs.5/unit and all other units after that are charged at Rs.7/unit.
